Many people have referred to Ludwig van Beethoven as a genius and with the amount of music he composed in his 57 years of life, he truly was magnificent! He composed over 722 works including 9 symphonies. However, beyond his name and the fact that he was a musician, what do your students know about this amazing man?

This lesson will delve into the history of Beethoven – his life and accomplishments. Students will learn about piano duels, Beethoven’s symphonies, how Beethoven is linked to World War II and the Voyager Spacecraft, where Beethoven got his inspiration from and more!!!

There are many video and audio links, printable worksheets, over 20 activities and pictures of Beethoven and his memorials. This is the perfect lesson and activity for older elementary school children, junior high students, high school students and teachers as well as home schooling. Each video clip is between 2 minutes to 1 hour & 20 minutes long. The lesson could take an 1 hour or longer. Depending on the activity or activities you choose they could take up to several days to complete.
