A Paper Hug
May 7, 2014
Several years ago, a good friend of mine received his deployment news. As I looked at his two young boys, my heart ached for them. I knew all too well what it was like to have dear ones called to serve our country under very difficult and dangerous circumstances. Although you are always in each others hearts and mind, being apart is so very hard!
Feeling the emotions of these two boys and their dad, I wrote a story about how to stay close to each other when distance keeps you apart. A Paper Hug was born!
As we approach Memorial Day, we recognize those who have served our country and made that sacrifice to leave family and friends to fight for the freedoms we enjoy. Even being away from someone we love due to illness, living far away or what ever reason keeps us apart, a simple paper hug can bring the love and warmth to anyone. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, any day is a great day to share a paper hug!
