Parenting 000: Activate Your Child’s Brain
July 21, 2014
It seems that summer zips by so fast! School begins for many children at the end of July and the first of August. Have you helped your child stay mentally “awake?” Math can be so easy to incorporate into everyday activities: grab a handful of grass and ask a young child to count how many blades of grass in one handful. Ask an older child to calculate how far it is to the local park, gas station, theater? The internet can be a help as well, in calculating distances.
Have you read a good book to your children? It’s not too late. Start one tonight! Check out GoodReads for grade-level suggestions.
Don’t let summer fade into fall without keeping your child’s brain active!
